- If you are up to using milk, then you can use skim, skim milk or 1% skim milk instead of using full fat milk.
- When you have to use cream then you can replace it with evaporated skim milk.
- Like wise use evaporated skim milk other than full fat skim milk.
- Stop using non-healthy fats like butter, palm oil and coconut oils. Use healthy foods instead such as olive oil, canola, soybean and sunflower.
- If you are going to use something like regular cheese, give a little thought to what you are up to. Switch the use to low-fat or non fat cheese. Don't use low fat cheese with cooked foods as it doesn't melt. You can also decrease the proportion of the cheese while dressing up your foods. Instead of using a cube of cheddar cheese try using 3/4th of the same portion of cheese which is extra sharp.
- The best alternative of the full fat cream cheese is low-fat cream cheese. Something to be kept in mind before you add low-fat cream cheese with your frosting cakes and dips is it will get very runny because of lacking fat so avoid using it with them.
- If you are going to add nuts with your recipe then make sure you have roasted them and also try to reduce their quantity. Roasting your nuts will add to the taste while reducing the number of calories.
- When you are using all purpose flour try to use half the amount. You can use whole wheat flour as the other half of the flour. Whole wheat flour is the source for fiber.
- You can also add green vegetables to your diet. Vegetables are quite an excellent source of vitalities for your body and heart.
- If you are on low sodium diet then you can use herbs and spices instead of salt this will add taste to your food and keep it sodium free.
